Stags boss Paul Cox makes his 6th signing by adding Forest Green Rovers striker Ross Dyer to the ranks. I’ve heard good reports about Ross despite him spending the nearly the entire season out of position on the wing last term.
Ross in action for former club Hednesford, who stags are set to visit in pre-season
Ross joins Lee Stevenson, Lindon Mikele, Paul Bolland, Matt Bell & Anthony Howell on the new signings list, having signed a 1 year contract with us. I’m starting to see a pattern developing with the signings now; all of them bar Stevenson & Bolland have been handed just 1 year deals. Is this an indication that the budget is not what was promised, or is it just the way Cox does business, bearing in mind he himself has just a 1 year contract?
The arrival of Dyer has again caused the ‘hmm’ reaction; I think we are perhaps setting our expectation levels too high & letting our past experiences with previous managers sway us, let’s try and remain patient and let the football provide the reassurance we crave at this point.
The signings will keep coming thick and fast, remember we’re rebuilding from scratch here so it’s difficult to keep track of whose in & whose out – so each time a new face arrives I will post on here & attempt to keep it updated as much as I can.
The question is who arrives next, the back room staff, the defence, a wide player or maybe another striker to complete the forward line – time will tell.
